In case you missed it, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be at a retailer near you very soon! Each year, all eyes turn to the newest versions of many of the top flagships as there is always a great deal of focus on Samsung’s upcoming smartphones. With 2018 not far away, there’s no wonder why we’re already fielding questions on the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Edge which are already looking to be two of the most anticipated launches in 2018.
Doing what we do best, the following takes a much closer look at the US Samsung Galaxy S9 Release Date and Price, and of course we’re mention the Galaxy S9 Edge.
We’re already hearing Sammy will be looking to launch both the S9 and S9 Edge earlier than expected. The official announcement should come during the annual 2018 Consumer Electronics Show which would set up a worldwide launch beginning early March. The US release date is expected to be the 2nd week in March right after it debuts in larger markets throughout Asia.
The price is somewhat of an unknown, but new leaks suggest Samsung intends on keeping the launch price for both the S9 and S9 Edge the same as the S8. This means we can expect the price to come in around $750 for the S9 and $850 for the S9 Edge, although, this has yet to be confirmed.
US Preorder Update
If the official announcement comes in February like we fully expect, expect preorder to start before the end of the month. Here in the US, the top 4 carriers including Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T will all get in on preorders and expect Samsung to throw in a freebie or two as well.
Carrier specific pricing is still unknown, but if the current launch price holds true we expect the Galaxy S9 cost around $32/month on a 24-month installment plan while the Galaxy S9 Edge will come in around $36/month for the same terms. On AT&T Next which offers a 30-month installment option will mean lower monthly payments coming in around $26/$30 respectively.
Latest Rumors on Specifications
The S9 and S9 Edge are expected to launch with some firsts for Samsung which include a nearly indestructible Gorilla Glass 5 screen and true 4K resolution recording and viewing. Each year we see a slight upgrade in the specs department and we’re already hearing we’ll see a 15MP front and 7 MP rear camera, but we wouldn’t be surprised if we seen something bigger such as 10 megapixels for selfie lovers.
Other notable specs which are likely include a 3400 mAh battery, dual micro SD card slots, and the new Qualcomm 830 SoC. The Galaxy S9 will feature a 5.1” display while it’s bigger brother will boast a larger, 5.6” 4K display.
