Over time it becomes easier to start to predict when each new smartphone from big manufacturers will be released. With Samsung, it’s also possible to predict their latest releases so you’ll know exactly when to start saving up. When will the Galaxy S9 be announced? Find out below.
Since the release of the Galaxy S3, Samsung has followed a strict pattern of events when it comes to announcing their latest flagship smartphones. Whilst the dates do change from year to year, Samsung has always announced their next flagship smartphone in the first quarter of the year. Often a month later, the flagship is then released to most regions.
Announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S9
In the past, the dates for the Galaxy unveiling have been between February 26th and March 3rd.
Samsung has often opted for showcasing their Galaxy devices at their own events, but in recent years they have changed their tactics. For the most part Samsung are focused on announcing their devices at the biggest mobile event, which happens every February or March in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress.
For example, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were both announced at Mobile World Congress in late February 2016. The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were announced at a Samsung event that coincided with the 2016 Mobile World Congress event on March 1, 2015.
By judging previous announcements, it is very likely that the Galaxy S9 could be announced at Mobile World Congress in 2018. This would mean that the device would get an announcement by early March 2018. The release date of the Galaxy S9 will most likely follow a month afterwards.
Whilst Samsung could change up their tactics, it’s very unlikely that the announcement date won’t be within the first quarter of 2018. Samsung are a business that puts a lot of emphasis into their quarterly financial earnings, so releasing the 2018 Samsung Galaxy s9 flagship in the first quarter of the year is almost guaranteed.
